I went to Cleveland to watch Lazer Team 2 last night. Movie was great. The experience was not so great.   Lazer Team 1 had an almost packed audience of Fans and Friends of Fans alike. It had an energy about it. People showed up early to meet up and hang out while waiting for the film to start. People told jokes, synced up their favorite RT and AH quotes, and did selfies with the audience. It was an experience that someone of my nature does not get to have often enough.  This year however, not so much. My fellow RT buddy and local Ohio Northerner couldn’t attend this time as he was on his honeymoon. So I went alone. I scour the forums, the local RT community group’s Facebook and twitter but no one seemed to be discussing the show. In either case I took the 1.3 hour drive to the theater. After arriving about Half Hour early, the parking lot was full, had to illegally park in a crossed Section that only my Small SUV could fit.. (was not the only one to do this.). My first reaction was that there was no Big Meetup outside, Ok, its Cold, They’re probably inside already, Got inside to find 6 people. As time went on more showed up, all in all somewhere between 30-50 ish… No big hurrah, no selfies, no nothing. The theater, which is a THEATRE (Stage, Balconies, and all) had the smallest screen I’ve ever had to look at in a theater setup. But… onto the movie….   The movie was good. A nice continuation of the first with the lovable cast returning for another alien romp. It included new cast member Nichole Bloom who I couldn’t help but constantly think back to Until Dawn where she played Emily. There was one moment when you could clearly tell who was an avid RT Fan, and that was when they released a creature from captivity. The Fans cheered when they saw this and the rest of the audience was clearly baffled. The only thing that was annoying was the lack of an After Credits Scene. All of us (save for 5 people) sat there all the way through reading the credits and waiting for that last piece of glory. But it never came, the film ended. Apparently the control room was confused too because the film even popped well before the lights came on. O Well. Always the next one
